When Typhoon Haiyan tore through Southeast Asia in November 2013, it was one of the strongest, most devastating tropical cyclones ever recorded. With its death toll reaching more than 6,300 people, Haiyan also left many lives and homes in shambles.
Because people at High Point Church generously and regularly give to the Global Missions Discretionary Fund, the Global Missions Team was able to send money from that fund to rebuild the home of a Philippine Christian partner of our missionaries Vince and Lori Burke.
Now, 15 months after Haiyan struck, we’re excited to tell you that Rene Batin and her family’s house was rebuilt in Manila and real progress is happening thanks to your gift!
Their gratitude for the life-restoring gift is beyond measure. In an e-mail update, Vince said “they almost trip over themselves verbally trying to express their thanks.”
Over 8,000 miles across the globe, the support and love from HPC is being felt—truly making it an investment with eternal dividends.
If you’d like to give to the Global Missions Discretionary Fund to support projects like this, our missionaries’ immediate needs, or opportunities to partner with global organizations to advance the gospel, you can designate your giving on the tithe envelope in the pews at church or donate online and mark your gift for this fund.
